It’s important to note that 99.9% of wheels you can find in local pet stores are NOT sugar glider safe! However, there are some vendors within the community that have made it their mission to produce safe wheels and they have made them available to the community, as well. We’ve gathered them here for you!

Why the Special Wheel?

Not only do pet store wheels cause a variety of injuries or even deaths but they also inhibit your sugar glider from running in a wheel the way they would prefer to. Rather than just walking or running along gliders are more likely to actually hop, run a bit, jump, run a little more and then hop again. They need a good deal of space inside a wheel with no bar in the middle to be able to jump naturally this way.

If you watch them try to ‘run’ in a normal wheel and compare it to their activity in a glider-safe wheel you’ll see a huge difference!
